About Denver

As the largest city and capital of Colorado, Denver is the centerpiece of the Front Range. Denver sits on the western edge of the High Plains and is just a stones throw from the Rocky Mountains. The city is made up of about 80 official neighborhoods, each with its own flare and features that distinguish it from other communities.

Denver is famous as an outdoor fanatic’s paradise because of its 300 days of sunshine each year and its proximity to the outdoor playground of the Rocky Mountains. Many residents spend summer weekends camping or hiking and winter weekends hitting the slopes.

Denver has the largest city park system in the country with more than 200 different parks, 650 miles of paved trails, 90 golf courses and about 30 recreational centers. Because of its extensive bike trail system and famed B-Cycle bike sharing program, Denver is also well known as a bicycle-friendly city.

Denver Art Museum and many other nationally recognized museums call Denver home. The city has a renowned performing arts center, and many neighborhoods contain art galleries and theaters. The Mile High City also has a dynamic music scene with Red Rocks Amphitheatre as its crown jewel.

A major pioneer in the restaurant business, Denver was the starting place for many fast-casual restaurants such as Chipotle, Quiznos and Noodles & Company. Denver is also well-known for its beer. Big and small breweries alike call the metro area home, and the city hosts the increasingly popular Great American Beer Festival each fall.

Arguably one of the most desirable places to live in the country, Denver offers safe neighborhoods, unmatched outdoor recreational activities and endless entertainment possibilities.
